In recognition of persistent gaps in dermatologic training as it pertains to skin of colour, the 2025 Colloquium on the Black Patient in Dermatology discussed topics in dermatology specific to Black patients and recent progress on advancing the inclusion of diverse skin tones in research and medical education.
It featured the fourth Dr. Mercy Alexis Keynote lecture, presented by Dr. Amy McMichael, a Professor in the Department of Dermatology at Wake Forest School of Medicine in Winston-Salem, N.C., on the topic of “Pigmentation in the Skin of Colour Patient.”
