In recognition of persistent gaps in dermatologic training as it pertains to skin of colour, the 2026 Colloquium on the Black Patient in Dermatology discussed topics in dermatology specific to Black patients and recent progress on advancing the inclusion of diverse skin tones in research and medical education.
It featured the fifth Dr. Mercy Alexis Keynote lecture, presented by Dr. Eliot F. Battle Jr., CEO and Co-Founder of Cultura Dermatology & Plastic Surgery in Washington, D.C., on the topic: “Beyond Skin Color: Precision Laser Medicine Begins with Biology.”
